Even when the talented Chinese director Chen Kaige's movies misfire, they're still sumptuous pleasures.
``Temptress Moon'' is Chen's first feature since his intimate epic ``Farewell My Concubine,'' and not in the earlier film's class. Though it's another stew of passionate sex and unconscionable betrayal, ``Moon'' is not set in the larger-than-life world of Chinese opera, which pretty much gave ``Concubine's'' over-the-top performances an acceptable context.
