ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- The Indian government Friday expanded the evacuation of villages along the disputed border of Kashmir, an action that, for the 10th consecutive day, indicated the possibility of war.

The Indian army ordered 20,000 people from more than 40 border villages to leave their homes, officials said. Meanwhile, shelling broke out along the mountainous border after a two-day lull.
